The Dogmatics were one of the best garage-punk bands in Boston during the early 1980s. They released two albums on Homestead Records, Thayer Street and Everybody Does It, as well as one or two singles and some compilation cuts. Their songs were catchy three chord wonders about girls, teenage angst, and partying. The song in this video, Thayer Street, is about the South End area of Boston which was a lot more sketchy back in the day. "Broken glass on the sidewalks, people in the doorway I don't know, the place downstairs serves as a hotel for all the people out of homes." In 1986 the Dogmatics broke up when their bass player passed away in a motorcycle accident. Paul is sorely missed as a part of the Boston rock scene, but the Dogmatics have played some re-union shows recently with Paul's brothers taking turns on bass duties.

  • OMG! TY for posting. I miss the live shows where one night at TT The Bears I was dancing up front & Paul jumped atop my shoulders while playing & the place went nuts. My hm ph would ring at 2AM for the after hours jam & party on Thayer St. My mother would ask who Paul from the Dogmatics was... LOL! She screamed about getting calls like this & begged me not go to the S.End at that Godforsaken hour. Of course I went :o)The experience and memories this video evoked is a treasure.

  • I'm so glad you like the video! the dogmatics have a my space page up that is run by Jerry LeHane. go do a little internet search and it should pop up.
