My family fled the soviet union in the 70s, and on the one hand I'm stunned that America would take such a hard left turn. Now before my eyes I'm witnessing a nation going down the same road that the russians took at the turn of the 20th Century. No sooner had my family found freedom that it is on the verge of being taken away from my generation before I had a chance to excersize it.

I am really confused, at the start of the 20th century in Russia your mother country had the revolution of 1905, left uprisings in distant and sporadic parts of Russia, did you mean 21st century? please reply as a historian of Russian history and culture I might have missed something?

@JenniferG1973 I was researching the origins of the Croatian people late one night (my mother is of 100% Croatian ancestry) when I stumbled upon a Balkan website. There were some racist idiots on that site, including one or two Croats, who were trying to build a scientific case alleging that white people, especially ones with blue eyes, are genetically defective. I found it highly disturbing and offensive.

I am an American Patriot of 50% Croatian ancestry, and thus olive-skinned, but still a member of our Human Race. Racism goes both ways. It tends to lead towards white people more these days. Its considered politically correct to say racist white jokes and other ridiculous things in todays society. When will people stop looking and labeling as color and start looking and labeling as people themselves.

The Unions are protecting the union leadership. What did the AFL CIO do for the airlines? Nothing. What happened to the Continental Airline Employees or Eastern Airlines? What about the textile workers? Where are the workers of American Thread? Laid Off. Where are those Jobs? Overseas.

Now they want to Unionize All Government Employees. Why do Government Employees need Unions? I thought that Obama, Reed , Pelosi, Schumer, Frank, McConnell, Baynor, Kerry, and Hilda Solis were watching out for the American People. Fair and equal rights Our leaders need Unions to protect the rights of the workers they employ. This is absurd No the leadership needs to pay some people off so that they continue to get funding and support.
