  • the conductor is not colin davis!!!

  • The conductor is Sir ANDREW Davis

  • Anybody can tell me something more about this fantastic video ? How come Miss Zschau is not popular as one of the best Elektras if not the best ? We know so little of her ! Please DATE OF THIS PERFORMANCE.

  • The first night of each Proms season is usually, I believe, the second Friday in July (the last night is always the second Saturday in September...). This was a first night performance in 1993 so an old calendar will tell you the exact date....

  • 5:30...holy shit. THAT'S why I love Voigt.

  • Absolutely Wonderful. This is absolutely some of the most wonderful Dramatic Singing I've ever heard. (Especially from Voigt.) I'm Dumbfounded.

  • Deborah is amazing!!! Definitely in the top five vocalists singing opera today!!!!!

  • So beautiful, so good. But unavoidably it looks like an insane version of Streisand and Mrs Bucket (from 'Keeping Up Appearances.' )

  • I am speechless.

  • @Crystalbellvoice Oh yes. ;)

  • Ms. Zschau was unknown to me, but it doesn't mind. She's just a terrible singer. Her singing technique is absolutely defective, her voice ugly, her diction inexistant, no one can understand a word... Besides her, Voigt seems the best soprano in the world, though she's just average.

    Perfectly forgettable.

  • Strauss is pure genius. I LOVE this opera. Rosenkavalier and Salome too. my opera is all I have

  • How incredible the young Voigt was in this music! MY LORD...it's amazing stuff.

  • Voigt was just at the beginning of her ascent and was at the peak of her powers. Marilyn is one of those great dramatic voices that were simply underrated, though she's sung all over the world. I had the pleasure of seing her as Salome in Miami.

  • Marilyn turnes out to be my Dad's cousin. LOL who knew. =P
