i had a cat who did this. doesn't sound like bark to me. this like 88generic said - chirping describes it much better. for a barking cat - see video: "cat gets caught..."

I've heard it described as chirping or chittering, It's usually a response to seeing prey out of reach, sometimes it's a frustrated reaction.

This is a cat "chattering" at something that she wants to prey upon! They all do this, it is very cute! I have one that chatters at flies! It's so funny! Mostly, they do this at birds out the window that they can't get to.
