Safari Trek, built by a division of Monaco Coach Corporation, is a very well outfitted, easy handling 26-foot Motor-Home 100 Inches Wide with 6'6" Interior Headroom and plenty of living space packed into an area that seems much bigger due to ingenious design and integrated engineering features. The cockpit is driver-friendly and comfortable with a compact instrumentation cluster which includes a minimum number of analog gauges centered by the speedometer and tachometer. Individual driver and passenger-side Power Visors are great for morning or late afternoon. Heated exterior power mirrors offset a massive windshield with an unobtrusive center for excellent visibility.
A Regular Unleaded 8.1-liter Chevrolet Vortec engine combines with a 4L85E 4-speed Hydra-matic transmission, overdrive, electronic controls, power steering, cruise control and Hydraulic four-wheel antilock disc Brakes to provide respectable fuel economy during a fully controlled, safe and effortless drive. The wide-track based suspension has auxiliary air springs, stabilizer bar, Bilstein shocks, front, and parabolic taper multi-leaf with Bilstein shocks, rear. A 60 gallon fuel tank assures range of about 600 miles.
All 110-volt appliances and electrical systems function equally well with a 1,500-watt inverter which draws from the four house batteries, a 4-kilowatt generator or shore power Wired for 50-amps. Equipment includes a convection-microwave oven, large screen TV, Electro-Majic™ bed, 13,500-Btu roof air conditioner with heat pump (centrally ducted throughout the coach), and a 31,000-Btu forced-air furnace which delivers warm air fore and aft through a system of floor registers.

The patented Electro-Majic™ bed shown lowered in the photos (note nice windshield drape) originated with the Trek. It's push-button automatic, moving up and down on cog wheels traveling on corner tracks. The height is fully adjustable, and it stores out of sight in the ceiling. Its 3-inch-thick foam mattress measures 59 inches wide and extends almost the width of the coach, an area large enough to sleep two adults comfortably. Safety locking pins are situated at each corner, with a kill switch between the bed and the wall. The Couch below also converts into a bed.
Counter Tops in "Poured Marble", an elegant, highly durable, scratch-resistant material. The raised panel cabinets are in beautifully grained alder or oak hardwood and padded to reduce shake, rattle and roll. Good closet space and a great number of cabinets and drawers assure ample storage at all levels for the needs of extended travel. There are also large, secure bays built into the body for bulky, long or extra items.
