Excerpted from "The Art of Playing Brushes" DVD.

The Art of Playing with Brushes is the most comprehensive, definitive and unprecedented volume on the topic ever produced.

Living legends Billy Hart, Eddie Locke, Joe Morello, Charli Persip and Ben Riley along with modern brush masters Adam Nussbaum and Steve Smith demonstrate and discuss their distinctive drumming styles then all perform the same set of medium to up-tempo swing, ballads and Latin tunes to compare and contrast their unique approaches and interpretations.

This deluxe addition to every drummers library offers a thorough and graphic exploration of the art from a variety of historical, technical and musical perspectives.

  • @jaarno88 it's amazing to me how people like you who have not and probably will never reach the level that this man has in his career will come on here and say he is wrong. Obviously you don't understand that being a Jazz musician, means that you play like yourself. So that when people here you they know it you. You know it's Tony, Jack, Philly Jo, Art,Ed,Elvin. Morello was good but has never had the impact on Jazz drumming that these men have. It's good to like someone but to say a great elde

  • @jpschubbs shot! that was the funniest comment I have ever heard. I read your comment then look at his face and ..it's true! ... great drumming though.

  • Is he in his pajamas?

  • 1:03 to 1:05 for the win!

  • talk about smoooooth!!

  • @phillipiscool123 Sweet irony :D

  • looks to me like hes doin a bit of spring cleanin lol

  • @JAARNO88 Like the man says, everyone has their own way of playing brushes. There is no right or wrong. He sounds great with great feel. That seems to me to be the bottomline. Thats all that matters

  • It's just if you are teaching someone else in a video, than its better not to pass on faults you may have., The sound is fine but unless you have a physical problem with your wrists you really need to be correct as many of the best drummers in the world have worked out. No disrespect intended.

  • michael j fox would be great at this
