@DangeloM27 I'd say the same sort of things in order to keep myself from being killed. ;-) However, it does appear that he may have believed in a god. Maybe he didn't believe in the god of the bible or what the church taught.

I think he felt pressure to be "catholic" if he was. back then people were persecuted if they didn't have religious views. If I lived during that time, I think I would put a few hidden messages in my drawings, too.
Not many people realize that what Michelangelo was saying with this work is that man had gone mad and had created God in their own minds. The arm of God extends from what looks like a human brain. So cool that Michelangelo took their money but used his art to convey the truth to all the people who would look upon his work in the centuries to come.
