So far I've enjoyed Blu-Ray's quality, but I won't seriously invest until it completely takes over the way DVD basically erased the VHS aisles at the video stores.

What about a 4K format? That would be the ultimate for me.

I'm very reluctant in investing in blu-ray, although it's pretty difficult to resist those Criterion editions...

I think a 60" TV would be enough to display 4K, so that you would notice the difference.

But wouldn't you like to have a physical format that had the maximum possible image data of a released movie? Some movies were shot at 70mm. I think the final physical format would have to deliver the maximum image quality of how the movie was shot, be it 16, 32, 70mm, 2k, 4k, etc.

Blu-Ray..that is it man....downloadable content is already taking over along with streaming. The more advanced we get with the average home owner getting higher bandwidth. The more downloaded content and instant streaming will grow. There will always be people like me who love physical media but i also love sitting around and selecting something online from the couch. Which is where our culture is growing.
