  • GK1 was a bit before my time (I was only 5 when it came out), but I just got it today and holy crap is it fun! No wonder everybody still likes these old PC games.

  • I still have this game and an old PC that I can use to play these old classics. This audio is from CD version of the game. Midi tracks sound like SCC1. SB + Roland SCC1 is the best combination for playing games from 90's/80's (or GUS if you like to play with drivers... ;)

  • This game, along with the first X-com game was the reason I invested in a PC. :)

  • @SoftBank47 same here, I was 9 but English is not my language (and game never was released in Polish), so I miss this one, now I want check whole series and... man this one is absolutely unquestionable great game. Especially now, when good story is not so common in games.

  • @fotakatos I was just asking the same. To me at least the two first songs sound the same as the MIDI versions on Roland SCC-1 which I used to play this game, if I recall right. But I'm wondering if these tracks are really played on Roland Sound Canvas, or something even better. But it sounds familiar to me.

Many Origin games had spectacular Sound Canvas music too, like Privateer, Ultima 8 and so on. In fact they utilized the extended Sound Canvas features much better than Sierra games.

  • I presume these songs are taken from CD tracks, right? Does anyone know which sound card or synthesizer is used to play them? If I remember right, these sound pretty much the same as playing Gabriel Knight with my Roland SCC-1 (MIDI), but that was a long time ago.

  • Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers has the best soundtrack of all the Sierra games (though Quest for Glory 4: Shadows of Darkness has my all-time favorite track from any Sierra game).

  • Yay, finally someone who uploaded the audio version (and not the MIDI version) of the main theme as it is played in the main menu. I used to listen to this theme for hours when I was younger. I just loved this theme - also the other themes are great. I'm wondering though: what kind of hardware/emulation was used for the three other tracks? Or are they from some kind of original soundtrack CD? They never sounded that good on any soundcard I ever had. They sound simply awesome here.

  • there are only three games that i love more than GK1 the first one, and my favorite is: The Longest Journey. number two is: Dreamfall (the longest journey's sequel) and number three is: Gabriel Knight 3. I never played the second gabriel knight, but they say it's the best in the series, so im gonna buy a digital download of it at ''gog.com'' :D

  • awesome introduction !!
