Officers Fired: Beating an Unconscious Suspect - 05-20-09

May 20, 2009 - Five Birmingham police officers have been fired for a January 2008 beating of an already-unconscious suspect with fists, feet and a billy club, a battering caught on videotape until a police officer turned off the patrol car camera, city and police officials said today.

during the 4 seconds that was cut out, it just seems that the suv mysteriously goes from the left hand side of the road to straight on hitting the pole. not if you watch the start of the video the criminal did atempt to kill one office by hitting him with the vehicle... and it was intentional.... the driver got what he had coming to him...... the officers whould have been suspended with pay, just so that they can calm down. too bad to hear that these officers got fired.

Has anyone noticed that this video has a part cut out of it? Did the driver of the van just decide to hang a hard right and kill himself? Watch as the clock turns 11:53:30.

Its not the only police video that has been tampered with by the police. Imagine if the police were the ones to decide the punishment of someone that breaks the law instead of a judge?

Moronic? Well, OK, maybe not. I'll give you that. It appears he unfortunately was not able to right the spike strip, since the perp drove right over it without any damage.

But I adamantly stand on my position on the apprehending officers. They were an absolute embarrassment to anyone who has ever taken an oath. It was absolutely disgusting/ There's no explaining away their total lack of professionalism from heated tempers. They should never have been allowed in that profession.

@BR549guy Actually throwing down a spike strip, not so moronic. It was well placed/timed, but he underestimated the willingness of the driver to run him over. 2 lanes over, only after swerving HARD was it "coming right at him". Should look more closely before posting.

To the dash-cam dude was clearly unconscious, no way it was clear to cops running up. Cops are in fact paid to protect us from people who would run a guy over on a whim. And take them down hard if need be. Beating was a tad much.

Granted, the guy grazed a cop who was foolish enough to jump out in front of a car coming right at him. How moronic can that be? But if cops are going to want a paycheck for acting professional, I'd expect them to do just that, act professional. I'm not paying my tax dollars for these sociopaths to act out against someone just because their fathers beat the crap out of them as kids.

Kudos to the City Council or police chief who had enough integrity and balls to fire these assholes.

You all need to watch the very beginning of the video closely and you will see the suspect actually tries to RUN THE COP OVER, he swerves at him, the cop barely jumps out of the way and actually I think the truck clips his leg - that's why they were pissed. If someone tried to kill me I would be pissed too!!!!
