In the cold November morning, 35 people were gathered together at restaurant Esperanto in Stockholm. Everybody with the same common interest - to discuss and debate the theme of Design and kitchen.
The panel discussion was initiated by Philips in order to engage with other parties involved in the area of kitchen and lifestyle design, so that all those involved could gain a better insight into this area.
It was our intention to look at this subject from many varied perspectives so that all those taking part would improve their understanding of how customer lifestyle, demographic, technological and sociological behavior changes affect their business or other interests.
Stefano Marzano, CEO & Chief Creative Director Philips Design, talked about the sociological shift that is taking place which drives people towards the kitchen as the centre of much of their home social life, what that might mean in how kitchens and the equipment used in them need to change and how Philips is responding to this.
Philips has a long history of delivering goods and services which combine advanced technology with a clear understanding of consumers needs. This debate is intended to expand the scope of that understanding and to engage with people and organizations who share an interest in this area.
By approaching a broad cross section of the design community we aimed to create a momentum of support, focused on, but not owned by Philips and thereby enhance our credibility in this area. We believe that the resulting panel debate exceeded our expectations in all respects.
