but for a professional company to use newspaper to mask the rim boggles the mind....newsprint is the worse to use it will transfer the ink when wet to the rim and its not easy to get off

I'm guessing the reason the wheel was taped off and not painted on the edges was because when the tires were to be mounted back on, it would easily ruin the new paint?

@adamfirstman No, we purposely left the edges unpainted so that it would have a 2-tone effect. It was high quality chrome, so we wanted some of the original finish to remain.
