Early this morning, in my jammies, doing work, I stopped and had a seizure. I know this doesn't look like anything, but it IS.

I was rocking, lip-smacking, repeating myself when my husband grabbed my phone and caught the end of the seizure. This is a typical event, and I was "aware" again by the time he asked me a question. I was unaware of ANYTHING happening before that.

A temporal lobe seizure usually lasts 30 seconds to two minutes. Characteristic signs and symptoms of temporal lobe seizures include:

Loss of awareness of surroundings
Staring
Lip smacking
Repeated swallowing or chewing
Unusual finger movements, such as picking motions
After a temporal lobe seizure, you may have:

A brief period of confusion and difficulty speaking
Inability to recall the events that occurred during the seizure
Unawareness of having had a seizure until someone else tells you

  • I was diagnosed with temporal lobe seiz last year. I have not had any of the symptoms that you present. I am on Lamotrigine now after originally starting on Topamax with terrible side effects. I have not taken the Lamotrigine since I went in for my GBS and I'm not going to restore myself to med-so I need to see Neuro. What med are you on and for how long? What other symptoms of TLS do you have? Mine seem to coincide w/premenopause estrogen etc..love to know more. Sorry for your episode =/

  • @BadFattitude I have complex partial seizures every few days, since 2008, so three years of this type of seizures, and I had about 6-7 grand mal seizures before I started on several medications.

  • @BadFattitude As for OTHER symptoms, I suppose HEADACHES, MALAISE, AGITATION... mostly. Post ictal.

  • The ictal is the worst for me. It lingers for days after my seizures come.

  • I hav epilepsy and it was quite bad 50+ a day at one point but when I moved out of my mums house and moved into my own they just calmed down to like 10 and under and finial nothing for 7 month but I hav absence szs aswell not allot so I can't be 100% sure that they've all stopped keep ya chin up and P.s I have that same calinder as you xxxx

  • @BadFattitude I have some seizures like yours that coincide with premenopause and estrogen have you tried bioidentical progesterone at least 100 mg/ml in cream form? It has made a world of difference form me. In fact if I use the progesterone every day of the week . My doctor did a hormone saliva test and I was rock bottom low. Said I could take as much progesterone as I needed to fill up my tank. Will do another saliva test in 6 mo. for adjustments Have your cortisol check too.
