Pres. Obama: I Struggle With Gay Marriage

From today's year end press conference, a reporter asked President Obama "Is it intellectually consistent to say that gay and lesbians should be able to fight and die for this country but they should not be able to marry the people they love?"

Regardless of when it will happen, it will happen. I though the Pres handled the question very well about gay marriage and he's right, we still need to debate this for all the points of LEGAL value, this is not from a religious standpoint, I'm not religious nor should this be debated from that standpoint. This is about a traditional legal viable union that st8 folks enjoy and are entitled to and so should we. It's the RIGHT thing to do. NOH8

He'll get there, maybe even next term (if he wins). I'll point out a couple things:

1) It is largely inevitable. The NYTimes pointed out that when ppl change their minds on this, it's never from supporting gay marriage to opposing it; it's always the other way. So support is building, slowly but steadily and in a solid way.

2) It's a state issue, not federal. It'd help if he said he favored it, but that's one step in a large puzzle. The real effort needs to be made as they are in Cali. and Wash.
