FRANK ZAPPA TRIVIA:

The under 30s and under 40s here who are fans of Frank Zappa I'm guessing probably don't know a lot about Zappa's earlier history and how he caught the attention of my generation and became the iconic cultural figure that he was to become. It started, for me and I think a lot of others of my generation, with a TV show called "The Monkees" which aired from 1966 to 1968.

"The Monkees" were a made-for-TV knockoff of the Beatles and their TV show was modeled after the Beatles movie "Help."

Frank Zappa also appeared in the Monkees movie, "Head," with a talking cow:

"Head" was partly written by a then relatively unknown Jack Nicholson who up to that time had only acted in a few Roger Corman horror films. The year after "Head," Nicholson got a part in "Easy Rider."
