It IS past time to legalize drugs and get this multi-billion dollar drug industry working for us so we can reap the benefits of all the money that is being laundered as I write this (it is in the hundreds of millions of dollars, folks) and PART of this huge amount of money could be used to teach, protect and monitor, exactly like the liquor industry and even the tobacco industry! But noooo, there are old and young fogeys out there who are missing the issue completely. Morons!

Afghanistan poppies don't have the potency needed for pharmaceuticals. There was a proposal to introduce a stronger strain and it went no where. Also, corruption, a far greater problem than terrorism, flourishes with poppy growing. & when you see heroin abusers there first hand (yes, I have), & learn the stories of women blowing opium smoke into their babies faces to make them sleep, you might change your tune. As for your 2nd proposal - arming Afghan women - I am totally down with that :-)

Yes let's make money out of drugs, and people who become rich on other's misery and addiction will surely use that money to build schools:D Sadly on one hand u got homophobic redneck rightwingers who think drugs are all the work of satan, and on the other hand liberal airheads who for some reason now saying legalising hard drugs are the best that could happen. You think it will be fun if a 16 yrs old can buy heroin on the store? Maybe we do need conservatives to keep liberals in bay :(
