My vote for Mawrth Vallis! Its the most interesting of the proposed sites especialy if observed close up (HiRISE) as in my Mars Wonderland 3 video first half
Well, thats how it starts...honestly, its similar to how we started colonizing the new world. I don't think gov't should spend the bulk of the money though, it should be the private sector...gov't can work w/ warp drive if they want...lol. It takes a first step...but it is something that will take hundreds of years. It takes time to set up an economy there. But it would also involve the asteroid belt too. A trade triangle (moon, mars, asteroids) of sorts.
Actually the warp drive was what I was arguing for and FS opposed it, hence the quarrel. I'm a fan of star trek also. :)
Unless there's something economically valuable to exploit from Mars, which could cover the costs of the missions, its really not worth wasting money to go there and sample some rocks.
At most you could only afford to spend a few thousand humans to Mars so as a second home its not viable-unless the earth was about to be destroyed.
"short term." Mars makes sense because of all the elements there for an industrail civilization. Plus it gives us another planet to live on to increase odds of survival (two planets). Mars is also less expensive to go to because of Delta V. (btw, i love star trek!)
Name calling does not move an argument. I do agree with both of you though. Warp, or something similar, will be nessairy, but thats also longer term. Colonizing mars is
fs-considering I've been owning your sorry ass so far, its obvious whose debating skills are poor and look who's running away...with a smiley face. haha
