This short sequence follows the progress of one of South African Railways magnificent class 25NC 4-8-4s as it lifts it's train away from Orange River. The station was mid point along the famed Kimberley - De Aar double track main line, ( the latter a missing gap still in 1986 in the country's principal electrified network). All steam hauled services called here for water and fire cleaning, and it's after such a stop that we see this departure. It was very much pre-dawn and almost dark initially, but chasing and overtaking the train, in time, the sun puts in an appearance.
