This video goes over a workflow methodology for post-processing your renders. This is not a walkthrough of building a scene for rendering, but instead, how we set up output for further tweaks in post. The models in this video can be found at http://www.digitalxmodels.com/

Many thanks to them for providing a nice selection of free models. It would be against the agreement to redistribute the models, so I can't give people the scene, but the setup is pretty well covered in this video, and you can grab the models files there.

  • check the docs at spot3d.com and if you have more questions (fluid volumes and their resolution can be tricky) ask away.

  • Thanks! I glad you found it helpful. As for fluids, why not render them in vray? Vlado added support for rendering Maya fluids a while back, so it's pretty awesome. It also does true scattering of light through fluids (if you want to take the render hit). That way you can render it all in one unified pass, or however you like.

  • This might sound like a dumb question. Is there a way, in Vray passes, to render out an atmosphere pass using environment fog, but not have it affect the rgb(beauty) pass? Environment fog is ridiculous to render and I'm just curious if there is a way to just have that pass and not render out a beauty pass along with it?

Thanks and all of these tutorials are amazing. It's how I learned Vray!!! :)

  • @tuanlesoleil now thats what I like to see, good questions

  • awesome now I can put my V8800 fire pro to work. thanks bro, looking for more tutorials at your channel in the future

  • This video was truly invaluable to me. I was looking for this everywhere. You got straight to the point. I like tutorials like this! 1 question. How do you render fluids? Ive just recently learned how to render passes in maya, but i believe that V-ray is the superior render. Im currently blowing up this car. I want everything rendered in V-ray, but fluid rendered in maya, but the car needs reflections of the fluid. Can this work?

  • @TheIcemanModdeler No they dont.

  • Thanks sooo much! You are great!
