  • that is the Montauk lighthouse on Long Island. FYI, the truck driver that sheared the top of the vans got lost another day on the shoot. When he got out of the truck to use a payphone (no cells then), he was hit by a passing car. He survived but spent the rest of the shoot in the hospital. Oh, and another day previously, he got the car carrier hung up on a curb completely blocking a local road for like four hours! It was the jinxed car commercial.

  • oh... what road is the thunderbird travelling on in montauk? route 27?

  • I worked on this commercial just out of college, It took weeks and weeks to make. The Maysles Brothers interviewed hundreds of actual Ford employees. The car footage was all shot in the NY metro area by a german director specializing in car commercials...

  • hmm... good to know... only problem is that it might be tricky to prove that's actually true but i believe u

  • The hand wiping the ford logo was that of the art director.

There was a shot in another of this series with a couple of econonline vans. The morning of the shoot, the guy driving the car carrier with the vans, hit an overpass, shearing the tops off.

The ford bronco that you see had an actress riding inside that ended up marrying Bruce Springsteen! How's that for useless trivia?

  • wow... where was the lighthouse at 0:04 ? doesnt look like that was in the new york area most likely massachusetts or maine

see all

  • @add2718 its the 80s! all cars were! haha

  • Good lord, is that really a Tempo catching some air at 0:13??? POS car

  • @jakesaintsrow123 I agree--I had two, an 87 2-door, which was my very first car, and an 84 (diesel), which I got some years LATER and used to commute over 100 miles a day to college. Some guy in a Chevy truck that had let his brake fluid leak out rear-ended me and killed it way before the life was gone out of it. Loved them both!

  • Ford Taurus saved ford!!!! One of the greatest car back in the 80's. Hopefully the new one is better.

  • tempo wasn't very good, but their current cars are fantastic.
