@stevietee3000 i have watched the entire documentary and its just like every other documentary regarding this subject. you have to wade through a shit load of footage about how it was in fact Detroit who really created the Techno sound and then somewhere deep in the middle you get a brief and speedy few minutes (if your lucky) mention about the TRUE innovators of this sound and then its back to the same old "but it was all Detroits idea really" bullshit.
@atlantichouse if you actually watch the documentary they acknowledge kraftwerk as an influence. if you think what kraftwerk and delia derbyshire did are the same as techno then you are looney tunes, good sir. while they were influenced by early electronic music, they developed their own sound that has resounded worldwide over the last few decades. you've really done a great job of name dropping artists that you think are obscure though.
This documentary is a joke. Detroit didn't invent Techno.. They simply copied the sounds of Kraftwerk and the rest of the New Wave bands coming out of Europe back in the 70s/80s. If you dig around a bit you're find the Techno sound being developed way back in the 50s/60s (Raymond Scott, Tom Dissevelt, Kid Balten, Delia Derbyshire) Detroit didn't innovate anything, they immitated - and then they managed to convince themselves (and the rest of the planet it seems) that they had created the sound.
@adcleavy agreed! thats how it should be! dark, strobe and loud as fuck,
