Episode 36 - We spend Christmas taking a look at a lot of (though not all) shoot-em-ups for the SNES. There might be more good ones than you think.

  • Joe you are BUGGIN' about the SNES lol. I would argue that the slow down is more on the programmers' parts than the system (or Nintendo not documenting the system well for third party developers). I think most of the games you cite are early SNES games. The Super Nintendo's architecture is clearly superior to the Genesis, it's not even a contest...the SPC 700 was almost a computer unto itself...Was there ever a fully 3D game on Genesis?...(I love the Genesis, but let's be real)

  • @benjaminshinobi Actually there were several fully 3D games for the Genesis and it didn't need a special chip embedded into the cartridge to accomplish this. Had Sega gone the route NIntendo did by throwing a chip in the cart every time they wanted to do something special, we'd have seen even more impressive (and expensive) games.

  • Good job. Next episode should be something with only Genesis games to make up for the SNES dominance of this one.

  • @KaskelotenZebbe A clue to the next couple of episodes is shown towards the end (not the games after the credits).

  • why does this dork keep bitching about the turbografx?

  • @STEFANROCKER23 Nobody on this show bitches about the TurboGrafx. Nothing but Turbo love here.

  • @SNESosT We didn't forget 'em, we just don't have 'em. :) Also, Rendering Ranger is more of a run & gun.

  • Should of done Darius Twin! that one is Nostalgic for me.

  • compile also developed my fav NES game: guardian legend :)

  • Aw, you forgot to mention Biometal. Still, that was a good episode. Keep it up.

  • Levels 3, 6 and 9 in Space Megaforce are all bonus stages.

    The best Compile game, IMO.

  • Game Sack jingles my Christmas baubles!

You can use that as a quote...

  • @tetrisdave Some fans assume the unfamiliarity of the show alone probably was the case (though we did get an English translation of the manga as early as '89 and videos of the OVA series was available in the early 90's too).

  • @RetroToledo You are right. Why the name change, I don't know.

  • @TemplarZK Haven't played that one. It sounds like I don't need to either.
