What was that first few seconds?
-
@matt134174 ''God Song'' by Matching Mole
-
anyone know the name of the last song?
-
great artist!!
-
@steevenfrost true, although 'cuckoo land' broke so much new ground -- a deviation from the drone approach -- while comicopera just kind of plods (albeit wonderfully) as usual.

Robert was my no. 1 inspiration to go on and learn myself to play the drum-kit. I loved to play along with Soft Machine's first two albums..
-
i love it when he hums and makes noises like on A last straw
-
An interesting comparison that hadn't occurred to me before!
Thanks!

Probably a "booze factor", learnt from Mitch Mitchell on the '68 Hendrix tours.

The second song is "A Certain Kind" (quickly followed by the very different "Pig").
This is available on the first Soft Machine album - "The Soft Machine" - which I refuse, on purist grounds, to call Volume One!
robert wyatt has had a huge influence on my life.I love him and quite honestly no vocalist i know expresses emotion as honestly as he does.go bob!

A playback? You mean they lip-synced? Nope, it sounds very raw compared to the studio version, and even if one may argue that Wyatt may have pre-recorded his vocal, I still think he would have done a better job. It's obvious he struggles to drum and sing simultaneously. Ergo, I definitely think this is live.
