Hey guys whats up,
Steve Ballmer just annouced today at the 2011 Microsoft Developers
Forum in Japan that the next version of Windows Phone code named
"Mango" will contain approximately 500 new features.
Ballmer didnt go into details but rumors have it that "Mango" is
expected to include support for multitasking, intergrate better with
Microsoft's Office productivity suite and will include Internet Explorer 9
with enhanced email and better search plus it will have a new thread view
and People Hub is also expected to pick up Twitter support.
Microsoft has a press release scheduled for Tuesday morning in New York
that will mainly be about the software but my guess is they will also promote
the new phones and maybe even a new manufacturing partner.
With iOS and Android continuing to dominate the smartphone market,
Microsoft has found itself trying to gain market share. They completely
redesigned the operating system last fall in an effort to do so but
Consumers didn't bite. In the first quarter of this year they only sold 1.6 million units.
Mango just may shake things up a bit , especially since it is the first version
of Windows Phone that will make it onto a Nokia phone.
So stay tuned, and until next time,
Peace
