I'm a fan of Vanessa's (or rather, I was when I was young and HSM was huge), but this just wasn't great. She's got a nice voice, but she's just not Mimi. RENT is one of my favorite musicals, but Vanessa (and Aaron, too) made this version of Light My Candle slightly painful. The Mimi from the OBC, whose name escapes me at the moments, is miles above Vanessa, and this is coming from someone who prefers Rosario Dawson as Mimi.

I didn't know if I even wanted to watch this or not - - I don't mind VH, but sadly, I believe she just turned one of my favorite pieces into a Disney Channel special.... She can 'look the part' all she wants - but that doesn't mean she can pull it off.
