Created by www.speffects.com, this animation was entirely done with nCloth. The tarp or sheet drops onto the truck through gravity. After it has settled the internal wind of nCloth is turned up, blowing the sheet off.

  • QUESTION COULD SOMEBODY LEARN MODELING IN MAYA IN 2 MONTHS?

  • @Arajack You could. It does depend on your previous software experience. If you already know 3D you could learn Maya modeling pretty quickly.

  • nice job

about how many faces did that first cloth have?

  • @Omegaroth The simulated mesh was 10,000 quads

  • What render engine did you use? Maya software/hardware, mental ray, or a 3rd party engine like vray?

  • @directorilyas

It was rendered in using Mental Ray in Maya. Simply setup using Final Gather and background ambience

  • actually their both great for modeling, the distinction being that their great for modeling different things. Mayas better with organics, and Max is better with architecture and hard forms. Which one you use is a combination of which tools youd want to use more, and your personal preference.

  • Its rendered so the only thing that really matter so much is the processor so that you can render it faster. When i say render I mean it loads each frame one by one slowly but perfectly

  • @Arajack I learned to model in a week. I used Modo. Apple soldier has some really good tutorials. I had been using maya before that, and ever since learnig Modo, i can model with anything. I Do all models in modo, and import into maya for everything else.

  • @Arajack: Gnomon fast track is 10 weeks - but its some of the most grueling work load you could ever try.

  • @Arajack I suggest 3ds max for modeling. It is much, much easier. Maya is more production-oriented which means it's a lot better than max for renderings and materials, though more complex. 3ds max is an excellent and very easy modeling factory, and you can also import your models into maya via .FBX file. That's how I work. Cheers!
