I'm disgusted at the idea of two men NOT having sex.I think I'm insecure in my heterosexuality.

@Gajoobles Yes I realise that Steven Weinberg first mentioned the phrase. Thanks for commenting.

@roac7777 This quote was originally said by Steven Weinberg I believe (Christopher did mention the source in a debate before I think) and it is indeed a great saying. Here is the full quote: "Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." One of my favorites! :)

@KudistosMegistos The homophobes that are insecure about their sexuality are
gays that can't admit their homosexuality to themselves.
Heterosexual men never doubt their sexuality. They know what they like.

Thank you for posting this, RationalThought321.

"(For what it's worth, I personally feel almost no repulsion against homosexuality; against transsexuality and effeminacy, in some cases, but even that mildly)"
Thanks for the strawman ;)
And yes, I disagreed with the "most" part - yea, I don't get it. If "stronger" repulsion against homosexuality is a probable sign of insecurity, does that mean feeling more disgusted by fat ugly women than "normal" also means you're secretly into that sort of thing?
-
A *certain level* of unease with homosexual behaviour is normal.
However, your language suggests that, whatever you might claim, your level of unease goes beyond what is natural. At this point, we have to ask why homosexuality bothers you so much.
You may also wish to note that I said that *most* homophobes fall into *one of two* categories, so your implication that I'm saying all homophobia comes from a single root is nothing but a very blatant and very sloppy strawman.

Same with homosexuality, it doesn't "feel right", because heterosexual men are "programmed" against it. If I feel repulsion against some deviant sexual practice, it doesn't mean I'm suppressing it in myself, all it means is that I feel a repulsion against it.
And insisting on anything else, is just cheap.
(For what it's worth, I personally feel almost no repulsion against homosexuality; against transsexuality and effeminacy, in some cases, but even that mildly)
@Hermoor
Really? Because you seemed to enjoy that gay fantasy.
It's also strange that you're so homophobic despite claiming to be secure about your sexuality; earlier, you said you were disgusted by the idea of two men having sex.
Most homophobes fall into one of two categories: religious fundamentalists and people who are insecure about their own sexuality. Which are you?

@Hermoor
BTW, Hitchens does like women. Do you think that he must be 100% gay just because of a few experiences in school? You need to stop thinking about sexuality in such old-fashioned, black and white terms. Some people are bi, some people's sexuality changes over time, especially when it comes to teenagers. Sexuality is a complicated thing.
