    She's not physically fit enough to control her vibrato. Big voice but very messy. She needed a personal trainer.

    Cool. I've always liked Elvis' version of this- as well as the original by Lonnie Johnson.  The tempo change is kinda cool.

    Absolutely great. In 1962 we used to call the girl behind the counter in the record shop in Manchester LaVern after her (she looked nothing like her!). I could listen to this again and again.

    You would have absolutely loved LaVern...and especially live; I got the chance to meet and talk the great LaVern before and after her set at the Cinegrill in The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in the 90's. LaVern was so down to earth, autographed my Atlantic 78s and 45s, and was stunned to see the WEA-Atlantic compilation lp "The Phil Spector-Atlantic Records Sessions," of which LaVern's Phil-produced single was featured. I took pictures of her after the show with her son, beautiful lady.
