In my opinion, Stevie Ray Vaughan was the greatest man to ever play a guitar.
Its a real shame that he died a few months before I was born, but my dad saw him twice.

I agree with you that this song is more of a reinvention than a cover. But I like both versions very much. Both have their charms and unique musical qualities.

Sorry...I think it's nothing more than the same licks he plays on every song thrown on a Beatle classic making it sound like everything else SRV did. If there weren't vocals here, I would bet most people would never know it's Taxman. And that's a shame.

Incredible performance by SRV. I was at this recording session - what a mind blowing experience. The band had a ping pong table set up in the studio when they weren't feeling inspired. Firestation Studio San Marcos, Texas 1987 or '88.
