  • thumbs uo who has this as there bottle opener , only real gooners will

  • and where were chelsea????

not even in the top division LOL

  • love the way winterburn just charges off to celebrate with the arsenal fans!!

  • Odio Liverpool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Liverpool had the title sewn up. This was 26th May 1989, last game of the season. Arsenal 2nd, Liverpool 1st. If we (Arsenal) wanted to win the league we had to win, BUT it had to be by 2 goals. Michael Thomas (who actually went on to play for liverpool later in his career) scored the second goal in the 89th minute to win the 1st division championship.

  • The part I love comes at the very end, where the announcer says that the opposing managers, George Graham, then 45, who'd played on the '71 Double team, and Kenny Dalglish, maybe the greatest Liverpool player of them all, just 38 and still officially a player although he didn't even list himself as a substitute for this one, would love to get in there and affect the outcome. Instead... "Dalglish just stands there!"

  • You just have to love Arsenal. I hope we can win the Champions League with Arsene. Please god.

  • That was the last game in the 88/89 season. Liverpool were 3 points ahead of Arsenal and also has a 4-goal lead in the goal difference.

They met in the last game of the season so Arsenal had to win that game with and score at least 2 goals more than Liverpool in order to equalize both the number of points and the goal difference.

Until the last minute Arsenal led the game 1-0 and in the final minute Thomas scored the championship goal for Arsenal. Later he went to play for Liverpool..

  • Okay, can someone supply an American the backstory on this goal.

  • probably the greatest moment in Arsenal's history. Ironic he later joined Liverpool. Liverpool fans say his best goal was in the 92 Fa cup final, but lets face it this is what he will always be famous for. gooner for life!!!
