This is what I do on days when I need an extra "boost" of moisture and I don't want to deep condition. This technique can be used for natural hair and relaxed hair. It can help prevent breakage and dryness.

Tools/Products: Creamy leave-in or moisturizer, plastic cap, natural oil or butter

  • Hi Ms Lala, do you have a tutorial for the hair-style you are wearing on this video (the side-bun)? It's really cute. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

  • @TheEbonylove Thanks!!! Really it is the same style as in the dinosaur braid video except I used a ponytail holder and then pinned it into a bun.

  • when you do this, doesnt it cause your hair/twists to shrink up??? i tried this and it really helped my hair alot... it felt really soft and moisturized but my hair shrunk up alot and since my hair is 4a 4b and only shoulder length i couldnt really put it back into a bun... i wonder if its just my hair, do your twists shrink back up after this process?

  • @msandrea2u Honestly not much but my hair is already pretty shrunken up anyway. I stretched it out and put it in the style you see me wearing the first part of the video. You can try putting the twists in a ponytail or big braids after removing the shower cap and walking around like that for a while before leaving the house to combat this. You may even try doing that before getting in the shower.

  • A friend of mine "Liked" your FB page so that's how I found out about you and your youtube videos. Your hair is beautiful! I subscribed and "Liked" to you wall. :-)

    God Bless!

  • @mcgeechevelle Thank you so much. I hope you find something useful.

  • Hey. I love this idea and tried it. Worked great but I kinda tweeked it because I didn't want to get in the shower. I just sprayed on hot water then put the leave over the hair. Then put on the plastic cap and another cap (like you were outside for winter)over that. I kept it on for 2 hrs. Worked! Hair was so soft!! (This is Moni's sister using her account with her permission).

  • Thank you for this wonderful tip! Your hair is beautiful!

  • @chapel2 I am only talking about for this particular technique not that I always avoid watery products. I put straight water on my hair for some styles. You will end up w/wet hair if you apply a watery moisturizer and then a plastic cap. I use products that have water as the 1st ingredient when I do this but they are not runny.

  • Excuse my ignorance, but why do you avoid watery products i.e. infusium and curl activators? I thought water was the best moisturizer. Is it because water causes afro hair to shrink and therefore creates tangles? DId I just answer my own question. LOL.
