Far too many gay youth who grow up attending church are taught horrible, awful, terrible things about their own sexuality. For me to say that 15 years ago I was taught homosexuality was simply "wrong" would be silly. Rather I prefer to illustrate how I learned about homosexuality in church, by recalling specific incidents that would shape the rest of my life.

I believe the years of anti-gay teachings I endured as a minor at this church amounts to psychological child abuse -- To not tell my story and how my life was harmed by my church's teachings would be a disservice to other gay youth currently enduring the same thing.

  • God bless you Dan. I have prevented Christian gay youth as young as 12 from committing suicide. I will try to point out to the fundamentalist how their rejection and hate are killing and demoralizing our gay youth. It's like they have blinders on and are plugging their ears. Their mantra is, "Gay is a choice and God condemns it and so do I". They don't think of the consequences of their actions and words.

    Take care my brother.

  • @ThePearljam333- Uh..you forgot thousands of years of thousands of translations & interpretations. The stories of the bible are based on earlier religious mythology that only christians seem to be unaware of. Many major doctrines of the bible are copied, not original. No one has the original ancient texts either, only copies, that unsurprisingly mirror ancient religions before it.

  • Well evidently you are still troubled by the fact that your church or religion looks down on you for being gay, so my question to you is, do you feel that being gay is normal and that when you have sex with another man do you feel deep in your heart that its ok, and if so then dont change, i believe in God but i also believe after thousands of years of translation and words carried all the way around the world that somethings in the bible get fitted into their own beliefs..

  • I say chuck them out the window and let them land on their religious keisters (NY joking). The Bible says that if you are judged then you will be judged in the same manner that you judge. They may be judged prejudicially by God.

  • Its disgusting that the moron church can cause so much damage to us such as supporting prop 8 as much as they did. they set their minds to do something they can crush us. i say we all boycott coca cola and see how much we can cause their sales to go down and maybe shut them down? in a perfect world right?

  • ohh....

    this makes me sad.

  • Keep up the good work Dan.

  • religion is useless.

  • Nice video man. I'm lucky to go to a church (I don't go much anymore, no time in college) that with more liberal views regarding homosexuality, keep it up man
