The fight took place on October 4, 1997 at the Ceasar's Hotel and Casino in Atlantic Jersey, NJ. The fight was being contested for the IBF Superfeather weight title. This would be the first of four fights were Arturo Gatti was involved in Ring Magazine fight of the year. Ruelas was coming in at 44-3 and Gatti was coming in at 28-1.
