I was hired by Joe Straczynski to create official Babylon 5 music videos for him to use at science fiction conventions, and later to promote the show to networks. We produced eight over the run of the series. Now, 10 years after the end of the series and numerous requests from fans, Straczynski has allowed me to post these online.

This video is the original I made in 1994 just for fun - only 16 episodes had aired at this point. I had made quite a few music videos like this for video dance parties at science fiction conventions in the mid to late 80s, and I was so intrigued by B5 from the beginning that it seemed natural to try it with B5 as well.

Straczynski and I already knew each other online through GEnie - I was a sysop for the B5 section there at the time. I sent a copy to him, he liked it and asked if he could use it at an upcoming convention. Not long after, he asked about actually paying me to do another one. And another. And another....

  • Great vid. Why is it exclusively from S1?

  • Because at the time this video was made in *1994*, season one wasn't over yet...

  • Two viewers were Raiders.

  • @owlmoose1 you have to use 480 or 240p

  • I discovered the promo you made for SciFi and watched it with great glee. Then I went to watch more... and they didn't work. All your other B5 videos, except for the tributes, play without sound for about 4 seconds, then freeze. Very disappointing -- I was really looking forward to seeing the rest of your work.

  • @Bronasaxon Well said! And they made a very satisfying thump...or did i mention that? ;)

  • Awesomeness in the flesh ;)

  • @elgatoshadow That's what I said! The *CGI models* were all lost along with the scene files so they can't just re-render them at a higher def. They would have to do the whole thing from scratch. No-one is going to do that just to transfer an old series to bluray.

You can't just transfer SD 'film' to HD. That's not how it works.

  • @Danny77uk The ships were all CGI, not models. Why would you have to redo the CGI just to release it on Blu-Ray. That's not really how it all works. It was shot on film to my knowledge, so you just do a high def transfer.

  • They won't because it would be crap. They would need to redo all the CGI and they can's because all of the models are gone.
