Step-by-step video showing how to remove and replace the LCD screen on an iPhone 3G for under $50. 6:30 running time.

The well-known video from PDAParts.com does not show all steps for the LCD, and they don't show the suction cup method to remove the glass. This one shows how to completely remove and replace a new LCD, including steps I could not find shown elsewhere. This is for the LCD only, not the digitizer or the glass. Parts were ordered on Amazon. $35 for the LCD and $6 for the toolkit. This video highlights the LCD repair, and does not show the details of taking the phone apart. Since there are plenty of videos that show how to disassemble/reassemble the phone, we focus only on the LCD.

  • Where did you get your screen ?

  • @Nicefswagg Ordered from Wireless Finest on Amazon

  • how do you separate the old LCD from the mounting bracket, is it glued? i haven't found one video on you tube that explains this step?

  • @satriani32 I left this part out of the video by mistake. There are thin strips of adhesive on the long edges of the LCD that hold it to the plate. Start at one corner and gently work the tool under the edge to separate the adhesive. Soon it will pop off. Take care of the plate not to bend it. If you are replacing a bad LCD it does not matter what happens to that part.

  • @Gaird8 Do i need any new glue or adhesive to connect new display with mounting bracket?

  • @kuber1905 The replacement LCD should have the adhesive on it already.

  • @healingharmonicsllc the cable is probably not connected right

  • Oh Nevermind! I didn't have cable #3 plugged in all the way! WOO HOO MY PHONE IS WORKING!!! Thanks a million for your VERY helpful video!

  • I followed all instructions carefully! I was a bit worried because the back of my new lcd did not have a mirror like my old one. Is this necessary? My phone turns on but is not responding to my touch to slide and unlock my phone. What did I do wrong or is it because the lcd didn't have the mirror? Please help!

  • i hate blacks and baptists

  • U just have to work it out with a paper clip
