1 to 8 videos edited to 6+ minutes. Though not the most informative 3D modeling tutorial I myself love to watch modeling timelapses without all the: now press this & now scale that, It is not likely someone will be following my videos to model the exact same droid/robot but I do believe there is a level of intelligence in modeling something some way and if you pick something useful from my modeling that's great.

I've used Wings3D 1.1.6 (which is not the recent version but I'm used to it), I use Maya camera mode because of [Alt]-LeftClick rotation. I usually start with a cube, cut it in half, select & delete one half and then mirror the remaining geometry, the rest of the process is pretty basic: extrude, rotate, flatten, scale, connect, inset, bridge faces etc(all commands accessible from Right-Cick menu), I have 'T' for 'tweak'.

p.s. KMFDM "Krieg" is out everyone be sure to check it out it has a remixes by Combichrist, Dave Ogilvie, Prong etc.

  • You crazy son of a bitch. Here I am struggling to model a fork and you whip this shit out. I am so fucking jealous it's not even funny. Good shit

  • @guitarussia Thank you=) I began by modeling chess pieces so you are on the right way, you have to learn some basics and then model anything you want, knowledge gives freedom=) Good luck!

  • Great job!!

One question: What's the name of the song?

    Thanks!

  • @Darwan18 Thanks. I honestly don't remember song title but it is one from youtube's AudioSwap songs something under electronics subcategory.. I think, all I can remember=)

  • I agree with you, I really am learning to prefer workflow tutorials rather than step-by-step instruction. Thanks for the video!

  • @AlexanderLee1 yes, step-by-step sometimes take forever to watch, so I upload timelapses and in that sense my videos are not for complete 3D beginners but if a person knows shortcuts/basics in his/her software of choice my modeling can be followed easily.

  • motion sicknass

  • That would look good in a terminator movie, great job.

  • nice man...

  • I think the best tools to use are the free ones:

Wings3d - is very good to learn with.

    Blender - is harder

Carrara Pro - still easier than blender

Silo - very easy like wings3d

Hexagon - looks weird but can learnt.

One other tool i think might be useful but runs on the mac is cheetah 3d complete and cheap like the rest i have mentioned.

as for max and maya they are too expensive.

good luck on your modeling journey!

  • Interesting, i have been studying the game development cycle for about 20 years.

its good to see that some of the tools are now free or cheap so we can make games.
