I own one of these. You DON'T have to detune before folding! You simply hold on tight to the neck, bracing the guitar under your arm, and unscrew it fully before letting go.
And then you can even bring it back — almost in tune!
There are two important tips:
1. When you string it up, have only 2 or 2.5 wraps around the string posts, and have them go neatly together.
2. When you unfold the neck and screw it together, give each of the strings a very quick stretch to re-settle them in.

rita04, That's true if you were traveling by car, but this is for air travel. Most airlines will not allow a full sized guitar in the passenger compartment. Checked-in luggage guitars are often damaged by careless airline handling.

interesting concept,a bit innovative,but it almost seems like to much hassle,seems it would just be easier to carry a larger package and be done with it
