This video demonstrates how a Wing Chun practitioner could deal with a straight line attack with a one two punch combinations. Emphasis is on wing chun's triangular footwork.

Very few people can simply see a technique, and then replicate it a fight. Yes, a so called "street fighter" may see the Arm-bar and think, "i can use that", but to actually go from the thought, to being able to implement the tech takes a lot of training. when it comes down to it, most will simply resort to the very natural "1 2" type boxing punches.

Wow it's amazing HOW MANY people, especially in the MA community, are just ignorant haters. the title reads "Defense against one two punch" not "Defense against a bar brawler" People! Learn to read! There ARE people that throw straight energy. Lot's of styles. (What do you think a "jab" counts as? Round energy?) This is simply one exercise. If all of you are too stupid to appreciate a FREE lesson that this kind teacher is giving you... Than don't watch!

one/two punch is boxing, not wc chain punching.

Yes it is. Not sure what your point is. We like to train against techniques from different styles (boxing, karate, grappling, street fighting, etc.) because the energy is different. You need to experience it in order to effectively deal with it. If you only train with wing chun practitioners, you will be less able to deal with techniques and energy that are foreign to you (my opinion).

Can I just get an opinion on something. You say not to "over commit" with the paak sau, but it is not possible to do this. Paak sau has a fixed path and end position determined by the first form, and for any technique, the goal is to reach that position as fast as posible for maximum effectiveness. Furthermore, the whole point of wing chun is to not compromise defence for offence, and is dependant on flowing and changing techniques, and so no technique is ever over commited.

The point here is to just make contact and not put too much energy (contact and stick versus deflect) so the opponent will continue with the same line of attack and I can change the angle to my advantage. If I put too much energy into the pak (over commit) , he may back away and change the angle. Boxers move extremely well at middle distance so I want to bait his power hand out so I can come into close range (wing chun advantage) at an angle that makes it awkward for him to realign.

I have to agree with sowterg. nobody punches like that. Wing Chun is a nice art but out of date. Not just my opinion, but the opinions of my teachers who are both black belts in wing chun. Your response to sowterg was a great reflection of what kind of teacher you are too. I mean no disrespect, just commenting on the video. I'm a martial artist myself so I understand .

Point taken on my reply to sowterg. I just fail to realize (and it is a bit frustrating) how the entire wing chun system can be judged on its street fighting applicability by a 2 minute and 22 second video clip that doesn't even try to address street fighting scenarios. I will add a video to show how we deal with common attacks on the street in the next few weeks. You mention your teachers are black belts in wing chun - wing chun has no belts so maybe it is not the same thing.
