S.S France - S.S Norway

The SS France was a Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (CGT, or French Line) ocean liner, constructed by the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard at Saint-Nazaire, France, and put into service in February 1962. At the time of her construction in 1960 she was the longest passenger ship ever built. Her length of 316 meters remained unchallenged until the construction of the 345 meter RMS Queen Mary 2 in 2004. The France was later renamed SS Norway and undertook mostly cruises for Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL)

@SuperTitanicfreak Why do you hate the Big U so much? She's a lovely ship. Maybe not as beautiful as the France but she is still a great ship that deserves to be saved. She deserves a better fate than to be left to rot or go to the scrap heap. They all deserved better fates. We must do each and everything we can to save as many of the great liners as we can for future generations to enjoy. Nationality doesn't matter, as many should be saved as possible.

@backpackerable They should have both been saved. It's a shame not that many French people cared to save their last great liner. The British have the Queen Mary. The Dutch have the Rotterdam. And we Americans have the SS United States. It's a horrible tragedy that the France couldn't have been saved. She deserved a better fate.
