Treking to school in fields of vegetation inhabited by wild animals and walking 15 kilometres daily to access educationthis has been the life of tens of Maasai girls living within Maasai mara. At Enkutoto village there are no schools, hospitals or water. The closest secondary school for boys is at least 120 kilometres away, that automatically locks the door for the Masai girl child to further her education. But this will soon be a thing of the past following the launch of the Mara International Marathon which will be used to raise funds to build schools within Enkutoto.
Any community that does something positive about girls/women has a good vision for the kenyan future generations.Bravo maasais for defeating bad cultural beliefs. You got a bright future!
