Ed Asner reprises his role as the gruff yet lovable boss to Mary Richards.
Lou Grant brings the "spunk" in this promo that Mr. Asner generously did for The Mary Tyler Moore Show on Me-TV. The MeTV Network is based out of Chicago.
If you liked this one check out "Betty White - The Return of Sue Ann Nivens" here on youtube.
Me-TV is Memorable Entertainment Television.

  • the old poop was carrying on with both rhoda and phyliss simultaneously

  • Gosh I love these promos!!! So many memories of one the best sitcoms ever!!!

  • That was so GREAT...Yet was doesn't MTM do a promo???

  • "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" is also available on DVD from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.

  • On Wikipedia on the Disney/Pixar film, "Up" in which Ed Anser did the voice of the main character, Carl. It also said that the producers of "Up" noted that Asner's television alter ego, Lou Grant had been helpful for writing for Carl.

  • Mary's got Spunk. Mr. Grant ought to know,I'm sure he gave her plenty. Why else would he keeps a ditzy broad like that around a newsroom?

  • OMG I saw this earlier tonight on MeTV and my husband and I LOVED it!! Ed Asner is such a RIOT!! Thank you so much for posting this awesome clip!!! :)

  • It's so sad that cable company I have won't give me Me TV or ANtenna TV, I got to go to Sacramento, Placer County area, to get the good stuff! Outside antenna won't do snuff either. I like old shows like this.

  • This is absolutely PRICELESS! I am a lifelong fan of MTM and Rhoda, two of the three greatest television series from the 1970s (the other being All in the Family). It's sad that most of the Rhoda cast are all dead now (except for Val and Julie) but most of the MTM cast are still around, old and grumpy as ever. Edward Asner is a great guy. I love the meow at the end taking the place of Mary's kitten Mimsey.
