Completely not true, insexmetrust. As an ashi therapist, I can tell you that I'm way more effective with my heels, balls of my feet and lateral edges in trigger point and myofascial release than I've ever been with my hands and elbows. The amount of nerve endings on the feet allows for a significant increase in the amount of feedback the therapist can pick up. Ashi can be a tremendously effective therapy in the right feet.

Great explanation for a great massage. Better than the supposed "originator." It looks like mainly effleurage, and similar to Fijian and Chavutti Thirummal.

Yes, it is effleurage, but the pressure has the effects of a deep tissue massage. Intense flushing of tissues, and a huge amount of detoxification. The heels are also used for trigger point work for certain areas. The lateral aspect of the entire foot forms a soft knife edge for very effective scapular work.
