"Jane's Brain" was the third film in the series "Trends in Surgery" sponsored by the Parke-Davis Division of Pfizer. This is a reconstructive neurosurgery procedure executed by Dr. John A. Jane, Professor and Chief of Neurosurgery at the University of Virginia Health Center. The procedure was necessitated by a previous surgeon having drilled too deeply into the frontal cranial area of the patient, causing bleeding. Dr. Jane is assisted by another surgeon we believe to be Dr. Charles Sansur. The procedure makes use of topical thrombin glue that is delivered with a dual-cylinder syringe. Because of tip coagulation on the syringe, the tip is later discarded and a bolus application of thrombin is applied prior to reclosure of the cranial incision. Produced and Directed by George Avgerakis; John Lynch, DP.
