watch BJJ VS JUDO IN BJJ COMPOTITION 2 WHAT HAPPENS WHEN JUDOKA DOSEN'T PLAY BJJ GAME?
-
@specialforces69 thats because he went with the throw if I chose not too, only my Opponent will go flying I have the choice to throw into a pin or arm bar or set up for a sub> thats what judoka tried after the first throw a pin and as far as lack of ground the same could be said for BJJ when it comes to standing up
-
@specialforces69 Judoka ended up in Kami shiho Katame or north south after the first throw and was able to scrabble back up to his feet the second throw was clean and he made the mistake of giving up his back but BJJ had NO take down skills at all ALL FIGHTS START STANDING!
-
plus theres BJJ or judo newaza to learn for the ground.. -__- Idk but u make it sound like u need to stay with one discipline.
-
your basing all of this on one video.. like synful said, its the dojo. Besides 1 throw is bomb without the mats
-
@specialforces69 It's not the student it's the school. My dojo focuses more on ground work than standing.
-
why did the ref tap the judo fighter? I don't understand
-
@specialforces69 that is true, but in a street situation you have concrete to land on, with possible sharp objects nearby. good luck keeping composure once you hit the ground then!
i've spent a lot of time working my takedowns & takedown defences for this very reason, so now i can take it to the ground on my terms & still maintain my strong ground game
Great Stuff, well done.
When starting against a Judoka in a Bjj comp wouldn't it be advisable to pull guard? At least that way they don't get the 2 points for each takedown. Just incase it goes to points.

@JoeJiuJitsu true, but i was inexperienced then & my guard game wasn't as tight as it is now. nowadays i feel that comfortable i'll do my best to throw the judo guy, my base is a lot stronger

Super impressive win! I've found that many judokas telegraph their throws with their hips and if you know what to look for you can set yourself up to use their own inertia to obtain back control, just like you did.

hey mate, appreciate the positive feedback! judoka do tend to give their backs with throws, but the control they have with the gi's underrated & quite impressive, it takes a very-well timed weight shift to stifle their throw & due to the lack of experience a lot of us bjj guys can't quite get it. i'm learning bits of judo now, bit by bit, as a blue belt, would love to learn nogi forms of judo!

@merkins87
The thing is... You have mats in those competitions to protect you from the throws. And this black belt was poorly trained in Newaza... How is he a black belt? Unless he was taking it easy?

@BlackShinobiShozoku
well that's why he was also a white belt like me, we had much to learn of newaza still. His tachiwaza was far ahead of mine at the time though & unless you study kosen judo there won't be much emphasis placed on newaza as most of judo's scored with pins & takedowns, not many fights hold positions long enough on the ground for any real newaza to take place
