  • I have this on 45 RPM as the b-side to "Let It All Hang Out" and it's notably different from this version. The vocal is different, there are backing vocals, and, most oddly, the last verse says, "forget about it baby" rather than "forget about it honey." Does anyone have any info on why there are two versions? And has anyone found the other one anywhere online or YouTube?

  • @KeyIXTheHermit - hi, a few people have mentioned that, i originally posted this as, unknown artist, as that's how it was listed on an early pebbles compilation...after about a year someone said it was the hombres, and the bside to let it all hang out, i actually had the 45, but for some strange reason never connected them....after listening to it, i listed it as by the hombres....i realized it sounded a little different in tone and speed, but put that down to the later editing.......----->

  • @KeyIXTheHermit ------> in the 70s i read some garage re-issue label sped up some 45s in order to make them appeal to the punk generation more.....this one here may be genuinely from an unknown artist acetate maybe, but i've never seen it referenced anywhere else, besides that one early pebbles compilation........i have the hombres album, at a few of their 45s, but my record player is from the early 60s and it's not possible to get digital rips from it.....------>

  • @KeyIXTheHermit - i tried recording a few tracks with a mic in the past, inc. this, but as you can imagine the quality is not great, i can listen to it, but i wouldn't want to post it here, it would be a let down, no doubt......i should really invest in a new record player........i would be interested in any more about this version as well, and how it came to be on pebbles.......

  • Thank you for such a complete and helpful answer, Blacflag! If only all YouTubers were so helpful!

  • @KeyIXTheHermit - i can email you the 45 mic copy i have if you want, listenable, just not digital quality

  • Crazy girls

  • The lyrics are good, and the visuals used in this video are excellent - but the song is a little too restrained. The voices are soft and in a light harmony; it's almost a little folky-sounding. It deserves to be raucous and loud and groovin'.

  • This is not the version released on vinyl. Sounds like a rehearsal, maybe an acetate.

  • Can't believe someone posted this!!! Now where is "birdman of Alcatrash" the flip side of Incense and Peppermints?

  • 1967, Daytonas=1964.

  • This is the actual Hombres version, unfortunately there is no real footage of them on film.
