This is my acoustic cover of Alligator Pie from The Dave Matthews Band's most recent album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. The fun part was meticulously transcribing all of his gibberish/skatting syllable for syllable. About 30-40% is comprised of discernible words :-P
Instrumentation:
Guitar in mandocello tuning
Tenor Banjo
Two Mandolins
2 vocals
Here are his lyrics, INCLUDING all skatting stuff for your education and amusement:
(oooh... yep.... Ohhh yeaah)
(Float)ing in the lower nine
Waiting for a boat to throw me a line
See my Stella smile
Sitting on the roof eating alligator pie
First day the water rise (rise)
Second day the sun is high (high)
Third day Stella cried cause night times dark as a dead man's eye's
Yeahhhhhhh...

Everything we hoped for

The corner store and market
Where Stella used to sing to me
Grace is all I'm asking
When will grace return
Grace is all I'm asking...

Well, Bryan, you surprise me! This is a great rendition of a great song. Your instrumentation strengthens the "cajun" feel of the song, and I also think the arrangement is one of your best. The synch is spot-on, and the overall sound is very, very good. Some of your best work, I'd say!
