"While visiting my uncle's grave at the Colleville sur Mer cemetery, I was fortunate enough to be in attendance while "Piper Bill" Millin was being honored. Bill came ashore at Sword Beach on 6 June 1944, playing the pipes to inspire the landing British troops. Standing tall and piping under the most extreme circumstances, German gunners later reported that they had spared Bill because he must be mad. Thanks to Bill and all of his brave comrades who brought liberty back to the continent.

  • It was an honor for us to pay that tribute with Bill. Our band, but others in France are dedicated to pay tribute to allied soldiers fallen in france during WW I and WW II.

We'll never forget what is due to these young men, and we use our freedom to share their values fo courage and sacrifice with the coming generations. Thanks to you uncle. It would be an honor to play next time on his grave any tune you would like., just tell me wich one and who is your uncle.
