If you are going to keep the fish, spearing it is more humane. However, if u blow at spearing a fish like the above, and it swims around for 20min with a spear thru its gut not dead, dont u think that hurts a bit more than a hook in its lip? I mean feel free to disagree, you will only make yourself look like more of a fool. The only way this is more humane than line fishing is if its an instant kill.

@bdrizzle1989 You said catch and release ftw while talking about spearing it. If you're a spearo and you catch and release, you're not even in it for the sport. So who's side are you on? You seem to be contradicting yourself

@Kent133 Thats my point exactly you dumbass.. The jackass before you was stating fish will die easier from getting hooked than speared. If your'e going to eat your catch, spearing is the more "humane" option, IF you get the proper shot. If you shoot the bitch in its belly, well I think you get the idea.

@bdrizzle1989 Actually your statement is fucking retarded. Put a hook through your lip then shoot yourself with a speargun. Which one is more likely to kill? And you might be right. Spearing it in the gut or top of the body might not kill it... for the first 30 min. But trust me, after leaving it, it WILL die. Don't be a disgrace, Eat what you shoot.

@MrSheissen1 You spear fish but let them go?

@alekscee hilarious!

@bdrizzle1989 I spear them all the time through the brain and it doesnt hurt them because I coat my shaft with petroleum jelly before I thrust it in. They have a small brain and I have a big shaft so it works out well.
Never had a fish die yet, Catch and release ftw!

I looked hard and couldn't see him holding onto anything "invisible". There are very few marlin taken like this. I don't know if cowardly is the right word as bill fish can be aggro and turn on a diver. Sailfish and blue marlin especially. Often when marlin are there so are sharks. I think it takes a bit more balls than standing in a boat. But I don't wish to take anything away from boat catches... there is a lot of skill in that too.
