AccuWeather.com Hurricane Center meteorologists, led by Chief Long-Range Meteorologist and Hurricane Forecaster Joe Bastardi, have released their early hurricane season forecast for the Atlantic Basin for 2010.

The forecast is calling for a much more active 2010 season with above-normal threats on the U.S. coastline.

Bastardi is forecasting seven landfalls. Five will be hurricanes, and two or three of the hurricanes will be major landfalls for the U.S. He is calling for 16 to 18 tropical storms in total, 15 of which would be in the western Atlantic or Gulf of Mexico, and therefore a threat to land. In a typical season, there are about 11 named storms, of which two to three impact the coast of the United States.

There are a number of physical drivers that have Bastardi concerned for this upcoming hurricane season. These include:

--The rapidly weakening El Niño

--Warmer ocean temperatures in the typical Atlantic tropical breeding grounds compared to last year (tropical storms draw energy from warm water)

--Weakening trade winds which reduce the amount of dry air injected into the tropics from Africa

--Higher humidity levels which provide additional upward motion in the air and fuel tropical storm development

The Atlantic hurricane season officially begins on June 1 and continues through November 30.

  • its 2011 and no hurricane or any storm hit the US in 2010 XD

  • Missed the forecast terribly! Just like last winter here in utah. noaa and bastardi predicted a mild intermountain winter.Third Coldest winter on record. January was brutal. February was chilly as well, and spring was a no show. The farmers almanac was very close. this winter so far is going to the almanac.

  • @allycat114 maybe igor will turn that around...maybe

  • the storms seem below normal

  • Look out for things to ramp up by mid August and lasting through October. Looks a lot like 2005 season.

  • @photographiczen 1 Thessalonians 5 Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 4But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5You are all sons of the light and sons of the day.

  • obviously you dont believe In God. God warns us about all of this in the bible. it s a new age agenda. a new world order is not about peace its about control. All your money will be digital, inside a microchip and there will be no more paper cash that microchip will go inside your skin, on your arm or fourhead. and without it you cannot buy food or anything.

they will make it a law, were you have to have this. and if you dont ,you will be prosocuted. the antichrist preaches the need for change.
