"Cruel trick to play on the people of Bhopal"? Really? Not one-hundredth as cruel as Dow's role in all this. Talk about a lack of perspective. The Yes Men RULE for doing this.

Do you know the meaning of corporate manslaughter? Union Carbide is guilty of deliberately neglecting safety standards, had the Bhopal tragedy occurred in US, UC would be bankrupted under $trillion lawsuits. Its clear that the brown skin of an indian is valued by UC at $500, while a white American is worth $millions.
Hopefully the next such tragedy will affect your
family & being a true capitalist you will accept $500 as more then enough for your loss.

# UCC was warned by American experts who visited the plant after 1981 of the potential of a "runaway reaction" in the MIC storage tank. Local Indian authorities warned the company of problems on several occasions from 1979 onwards.
-
# During 1983 and 1984, leaks of the following substances regularly took place in the MIC plant: MIC, chlorine, monomethylamine, phosgene, and carbon tetrachloride, sometimes in combination.
# Reports issued months before the incident by UCC engineers warned of the possibility of an accident almost identical to that which occurred in Bhopal. The reports never reached UCC's senior management.
-
# In February 1982, an MIC leak affected 18 workers.
# In August 1982, a chemical engineer came into contact with liquid MIC, resulting in burns over 30 percent of his body.
# In October 1982, there was a leak of MIC, methylcarbaryl chloride, chloroform and hydrochloric acid. In attempting to stop the leak, the MIC supervisor suffered intensive chemical burns and two other workers were severely exposed to the gases.

What do you know about the disaster? Go read, its everywhere.
Union Carbide was warned several times before the disaster happened on 2nd dec - 1984.
Wiki :-
# In 1976, the two trade unions reacted because of pollution within the plant.
# In 1981, a worker was splashed with phosgene. In panic he ripped off his mask, thus inhaling a large amount of phosgene gas; he died 72 hours later.

I wish I knew the Yes Men and what they planned on doing... I would be able to short DOW stock before he did that "prank" and make quite a profit.

It unfair how Union Carbide was harassed by Indian government. The disaster was a simple technical failure. But the harassment Warren Anderson faced from Indian government is condemnable. Indian government should apologize to Mr Anderson for harassing him.

Hmm, so what you're saying, AquaticRobot, is that failure to comply with due indemnities is... not criminal?
